Window 3 – Baptism Window
The third window is the Baptism window and contains a direct quote from Ephesians 4:5: “There is one body and one Spirit, just as you were called to the one hope of your calling, One LORD, One FAITH, One BAPTISM, one God and Father of all, who is above all and through all and in all.” There are a number of relevant New Testament passages on baptism, such as Romans 6:2-5.
The window itself shows a dove framed by cattails with the beautiful waters of a river flowing beneath them. The river conjures up different meanings from the Missouri River with the Water Falls to the Jordan River with Jesus being baptized and the dove descending upon him. It has been said by numerous Christian writers that “water is the Christian’s birthmark.” For most of the world’s Christians, water in some form is involved in baptism.
